At the end, Vega 56 will cost you way more than a 1660 ti.

Rip RX 590 at current prices. Certainly a great midrange card this 1660 ti.

Regarding the power consumption, the article states that the idle power for the Radeon is actually (fractionally) lower than the Nvidia. Obviously it depends what you do with your computer, but most of us aren't taxing our GPUs 24/7 (except miners and folding-folks). 2-3hr per day average seems a more realistic guess, although some may play more.

Either way, I'd be shocked if it made a meaningful dent in your elec bill - you could probably save more by swapping a couple of light bulbs for LEDs.

If you're that worried about it, there are technologies like Radeon Chill (I'm sure nvidia has similar) to avoid unnecessarily over-working your GPU when gaming, which will also no doubt keep the wattage in check.

I don't think the power consumption is all that relevant for most users. Taken as playing games 10 hours a week, say 500 hours a year, the extra 100 or so watts of the Radeon RX Vega 56 would add up to around 50kWh, or about £7.50 based on a good tariff. My main reservation is with the noise.

Yep, just bought a Vega 56 Sapphire Pulse from Overclockers for £278, Way better than this card and a complete bargain compared to the nonsense prices currently on Scan.

And yes, i plan to undervolt it to lower power consumption. the difference really is not that large in the grand scheme of things as Irien says.
