Re: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X and Ryzen 7 3700X
3700X more interesting IMO, only 65W tdp and the frequencies aren't that far off of the 3800X.

Personally I'd say the 3600 would be a better choice, the OP mentioned price so i assume (s)he's looking for the best value and for the price of the 3700X you could get a 3600, a B450 board and some RAM for not much more than the 3700X alone.
Re: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X and Ryzen 7 3700X
I see the Asus B350 chipset motherboard we have at work now lists compatibility with zen2 right up to 3900X, so some really old motherboards are getting support not just the 4x0 chipset ones.
Re: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X and Ryzen 7 3700X
Tempted to just pop a 3600x in my Msi Gaming Pro Carbon B350 to replace my 1600, might even keep the cooler.
MSi have a beta bios that works.
Re: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X and Ryzen 7 3700X
Would like to see a comparison done with the same processor ie 3700x in a B350, X370, X4xx, x5xx to see if there is any real world difference as if there is not much in it I will upgrade my processor and keep my X370 board

I did see a comparison from X470 to X570 which was basically nothing. So if the leap from 370 to 470 wasn't enough to tempt you then I would suggest sticking with the 370. You can always upgrade the board later, not like it is a one time decision.

I may just go for it, found an interesting vid here :

It seems to be down to how much flash space there is for the BIOS, my X470 has a 32MB bios chip so perhaps lower end boards only have 16MB if they are dropping so much support? I have yet to see anything from Asus to say the X470-Pro that I have is compatible with 3000 series, which I suppose I should have expected. Asus have always done nice boards but lousy support.
MSI are bringing out a 'MAX' range of their current boards which are going to have a 32mb bios chip to cater for this. Beyond that, there's talk of "lite" versions of bios updates.

It's good that you've already got a chip to upgrade, there's been some issues with BIOS flashback.
Re: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X and Ryzen 7 3700X
The new CPU looks nice, But the gaming less than I expected. they can look more into that. but the CPU is more stable Than the intel. if they change from FHD to 4k. I chose the AMD Because you have more future than Intel. The socket is still the same as 2 years ago and we have PCI 4 with the new motherboard and AMD give more than Intel himself in this area.
Re: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X and Ryzen 7 3700X
Good performers. I expected more of the gaming side but still. The FPS stabilize more than Intel.
