Interesting, like a mini version of the Versatube stage lights. What voltage is the wall wart supplying to the controller? 12v or 5v, hopefully (opening up the possibility of supplying from the host PC).

I've done something similar with CableMod kits, before. Those are probably the ones I liked best, mainly because they come with UV LEDsbuilt in and the adhesive strips are also magnetic. Tack on a USB-powered RGB controller for about a tenner and you're set.
Might not work with iCUE, but then what ever does?
You also have monitors like the LG 32gk850g VA, which have ambient lighting built in. <--That one is especially good, I have to say... mainly as I've been using one since Monday last week.
