    USB 2.0 is present because there is a huge amount of brand new hardware that comes with just USB 2 still. Looking at for example audio interfaces they are nearly all only 2.0
    Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!

    USB ports are backwards compatible

    USB type A is USB type A*, you don't need a different cable to plug a type A 2.0 device into a type A 3.0 port

    *I know type A superspeed is a thing, but from the point of view of a 2.0 male end it's just a type A port

    There are also some audio problems that can be resolved by moving from USB 3 to USB 2 (or so I've read). Something to do with interference/shielding.
