£700?!
If I was buying a near end of production card, second tier, I'd be looking for MAYBE £500. I'd be thinking closer to £400.
AMD's X5700XT is half the price for a handful of FPS less in most scenarios. If you're looking for RTX performance, you'd be mad to buy the first gen hardware RTX cards, especially at these prices, when their successors are on the horizon.

Only reason to buy a GFX card right now is if the one you had died, and then i would probably advise you to get something dirt cheap just to tie you over until X mas.
I had my eyes set on 5700 XT, but something like 6 months before that launched my old GFX died, so i got a cheap 1060 3GB to tie me over, and that was even a overkill considering i dont really play anything.
Okay that way my 5700 XT are also a even larger overkill, but i want to play something, and now i am at least ready if someone make something worth playing ( which i doubt more and more )
So my GFX more or less do most of its work when i an editing video, it is actually rare i hear the fans spin up, and its not like my PC are that loud.
I'm hopefully off to the USA next year, would love to bring an ampere card back

it really need to be a deal I would not be able to refuse... due to next generation cards is coming from both Companies.... think AMD may even win my heart next time... need more open platform...

What is that boot up period when the GPU fans spin at full speed? They didn't used to do this but it seems to be common on Ryzen based builds.
Probably gonna get jumped on here but sorry the situation of pricing with graphic cards is beyond me. Ok I'm not a gamer , well , once in a blue moon maybe as I normally have better things to do. But for the price of a so called "mid range" card by todays standard you could build a complete PC. For one moment look at that card , little PCB , a few chips , fan and minature components then compare that to a complete pc and tell me theres value for money there.I started way back in 286 days and have always credited gaming as the biggest driving force for graphic advancements in PC's but I think now we are being totally ripped off.Ok , theres R&D but that applies to every other componenent , CPU's , motherboards etc, etc. Like most , I haven't money to burn and wouldn't dream of spending more than £125 on a graphics card and even begrudge that. That sum is what I allow the CPU and motherboard apiece maximum to keep me at some sensible level in my mind to have a decent PC.
Supply and demand, mers. People charge what the market will bear.

I'm freelance, but I'm not going to charge £500 per 1000 words if I know someone (even the same publisher) eill pay £750 if that's what I ask. And if I ask too much, theu won't buy.
Similar rules apply to computer manufacturers, though setting the pricepoint that maximises revenue is far trickier. You're not being ripped off. Either you pay it which means you're prepared to, or you don't in which case you aren't getting enough out of it to meet market price.

Well don't forget to look back to how much GPUs cost back in 286 days.. The same reasons for the pricing then apply to pricing now.
The 5700XT stacks up really well at the price point and lifecycle of the cards/platforms compared to this card. If anyone needs/wants a new card right now, from this review that's the one I'd say to go for.
Ok , getting old,lol. I don't recall having to pay vast amounts for a 1MB Trident card back then , used to be the common card most peeps I knew used them. Thinking just now that only last year I dumped a box full of old ISA and Pci cards down the dump as I got fed up with moving them about. Sill got a large amount of memory sticks knocking about that have got to go soon , think some of those go back to Simms , bloody hell. lol.
The first mainstream 3D add in card, the 3dfx Orchid Righteous 3D was about $500 in today's money so the prices of cutting edge PC graphics hasn't changed that much over the years. At least these days you can buy a card for much less than that which will enable you to play the same games.
