whole XT series in top 3 most pointless releases EVER
Intel would give you these mid life increases for free. Its just a refinement of the steppings and would normally happen. Now they add x then xt and step up the prices. AMD HAS become Intel. The older chips are the bargains. 2700 looks good .
I'm struggling to think of examples. 8086K? The 4790K was a re-package more than a process improvement. Neither was cheap.
AMD have given us the Richland tweak of the Trinity APU. The Piledriver bug fix of Bulldozer. Athlon FX.
Usually process tweaks give us slightly faster CPUs, so they are sold for more if they bother releasing a faster model at all.
