    Once the X series is sold out, it'll make perfect sense I'm sure. The pricing of the XT is likely to be to aid clearing the X out of stock before it depreciates into selling at a loss. Then the XT will probably come down in price a little.

    The Ryzen 7 3700X and Ryzen 7 3800X have gone up in price in the last week or so!

    Yup they have - but prices of quite a few items has as well, ssd's have gone up a tad and so has memory unless there is an amazing deal. Pound struggling because of obvious reasons and this has put up inflation thus prices up a bit. Got a 3700X couple of weeks back at £249 and yesterday was back up to £297
    Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!

    You need expensive board etc. for threadripper...
    I can't really see why most people would look past a high core count Ryzen - but each to their own

    I'm waiting to pull the trigger on a 8/16 not sure on which yet tho, it would have to be a very good deal, coming from a 3770K@4.4ghz it should be a great upgrade, and last like this old 3770k has! (maybe not quite as long! but I should just be able to change CPU on the same socket!)

    Re: AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT

    If you're considering Ryzen Vs Threadripper, I'd say you'd need to be considering a server grade CPU to have Threadripper in the equation. I think Threadripper is a step down from a server where you can afford to lose a few bits and bats rather than a step up from a desktop where you need to gain things.

    They're just totally different classes in my book. Kind of like debating if you can get away with a Celeron Vs an i3 and the other option is a mobile SoC.

    It doesn't explain a 20% price increase though,and certainly I am seeing RAM prices drop,and there are good deals on SSDs. I do think AMD has used the XT series to quietly reset the price of other SKUs,which Gamersnexus feared AMD might do IIRC.

    I'm not so sure - new process and all that and they behave differently under load. Not sure they're a massive increase in real world performance but seems legit enough. I think the prices have been all over the place and despite AMD wanting the difference to be less retailers have cut prices of non xt processors...

    I mean it's not a huge problem for AMD in the grand scheme of things. I see SSD's (or at least the ones I'm interested in) have dropped again today from yesterday and that's more indicative of how things are really overall in the UK right now

    AMD is still selling 1000 series ryzens - the 3000 X series chips aren't going anywhere for years

    "Arriving at the £240 retail price as rival Intel Core i5-10600K"

    retail price v tray price?
    Pricing as of today in the UK.

    3600xt = £240
    10600k = £275

    Have to agree with the reviewer. Not worth the upgrade from 3600x, nor indeed the 3600.
    Maybe we'll see the latter 2 chips being discontinued, with the new 4xxx series on the horizon, and a larger profit margin for AMD.

    AMD would be nuts to chop the plain 3600, which Amazon currently rank as their #1 best selling CPU.

    Re: AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT

    The problem of 3600XT is not even 3600X, it is 3600, like yes you lose like 2-3% of performance, but you also go from 250USD to like 170USD. So why pay 47% more for 2-3% performance increase. And if you want more, then add a little and you get 3700X that is again just few percent behind 3800XT. About 270USD chip versus 400USD, it definitely doesn't offer 48% performance increase to match price increase. Just saying, because I see reviews ignoring 3600, 3700X and 3900X, to make XT make more sense, which is nonsense, you pay 50USD for X, you pay another 50USD for T and then rest of price difference becomes more proportional to performance increase. :-D

    Oh, and if you don't care about money, get 10600K, overclock it and it will still beat any XT chip in gaming, small margin for sure, but still noticeably above on graphs for most games.
