It could be worse....... If you think this is a rip-off, you could've paid £1k+ on top for the last RTX Titan on Turing There really is no limit to how brazen or how deep they'll stick their hands down a fools pocket.

Bad is subjective here. Is it bad with current games? Yes absolutely. Will the same gap be there in a years time?......i'm not sure, I suspect it will widen a little, if only due to the memory. The thing is though that we have the 3080 20GB around the corner (read: 3080ti) which I expect will be at around £1k, which weakens the case for buying a 3090 even more.

That doesn't change the fact this is terrible value at the moment and that 99% of gamers should not bother with it.

Or that none of us will actually be able to buy one of these this year. It's very likely that AMD will have exactly the same problem with bots & scalpers too, meaning that its 2021 before any of us can buy one at close to MSRP.

With the way Nvidia have launched this, Microsoft will probably have produced more Xbox Series X by the time Nvidia have any stock to sell, considering they're cheaper than the 3080, I may just buy one of those instead.

Already seeing other reviews where 3090's pull over 500 watts and a 750 watt psu isn't enough because you'll need an i9 otherwise the cpu will hold it back.... we're back to 1200 w psu's and stuff

LTT not impressed for example and first reviews saying really not worth it
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!

it is for creator's where time is money, the true value is the extra CUDA cores for encoding 4k+ movies in FFMEPG

Not really, most of the rumours seem to be true.

Once they've sold enough of these, or AMD drop a decent card (if they can), along comes a ti (I know nothing new).

The fact there's so little in this and they're charging so much for the weeks / months of "professional" use.

It is practically a 3080 in gaming, which itself wasn't exactly brilliant.

This may actually be AMDs best chance in the last decade.

It seem quite the step in price for just 2k more cores... is the RAM really that expensive?!?!?

I don't see why trying to downplay AMD, they been on the front for long, PS/XBOX alone has AMD Tech in them, the release of PS5 is what make Nvidia uneasy, because everything would be developed around games for AMD first of all, so AMD can drop a flagship or really good card as it is time to be what they can do for Consoles, and PC's to closely follow.... it was the same tendency when the PS4 was new.

So, now we know there will be a 3080 Ti. What do you mean there's no room in the product stack?

It'll be a binned 3080 at (ever-so-slightly) higher clocks, with double the VRAM and NVLink.

    Priced at £1K, no doubt.

How's that meter working now, ik9000?

Re: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3090 Gaming OC

I'm glad the performance isn't all that much better than the 3080 to be honest. I was considering cancelling my 3080 pre-order, but for purely gaming the choice is now clear, it's not worth it.

Radeon graphics is pushing out intel laptop market share, Radeon graphics is creeping into gaming developers studios, Radeon graphics is creeping into Nvidia's and intel server space. LET ME GUESS intel and nvidia are in a panic mode.
