    HEXUS.preview: Sony Ericsson K750i

Sitting pretty in a svelte black and gunmetal shell, the K750i is the first in a new series of mobiles from Sony Ericsson to expand on the multimedia craze that’s sweeping the market in mobile communications. Many people have been waiting for the new series of mobiles from Sony Ericsson, the K750i and the W800i handsets are the two of note, the latter not due till the fourth quarter of 2005. The K750i on the other hand is imminent, but the big question is, was it worth the wait?

Of course the 900 owns it, but you have to remember, all the features in the phone thats not that noticibly bigger than a Nokia 6230 and that will come free with contracts over £30pm means cost wise, it owns your P900

heh just jesting bud, thanks for the comments

I'll tell you what I am after - but cannot seem to find

I have a P800 and will swap it as soon as I can find a phone that has:-

    • Same functionality as a P800/900/910 or 02 PDA
    • 640x480 screen
    • Flash with the camera

Needless to say - it should have the finest 3D graphics sub-system on the planet ;~)

I have never seen this combination, but - to me - it seems like the most natural thing in the world

If it was RAZR thin/stylish - then that also would not be a bad thing

    Any thoughts ?

I have seen some samples, but the phone I had to review was a beta sample, it was quite buggy in places, the camera was very good and the video playback was exceptional. It seems to be the Eric Pryce video thats popular with mobile formats, after seeing it on this I was impressed, but not as impressed as I was by the PSP.

Its catch 22 tho, ok the camera is good for nights out pubbing and clubbing, but I feel its truely going to be a long time till it beats a camera itself. The 4x digital zoom on the K750i was impressive, as was the ease of use on the camera, the memory is the biggie though, with that much potential storage now on mobile devices the cameras are only going to get better and better.

ROFL, I was gonna say, the games on the K750i were pretty impressive, but with the forays into mobile chip imaging coming, its looking good for gamers, dare I say it, the screenshots I saw from the Nvidia offering were impressive, not seen any ATi stuff yet mind...Ill get me coat

the worrying thing again with sony ericsson, is that the internal memory (driving the ui) is also used for preloading all contact infomation etc, so unless they've fixed the "slowdown" bug which has plagued their designs for the last few years - I'm staying well away.

the beta version I had yesterday was very slick indeed, I know what you are meaning about the speed issue of th shared memory, I have tried many SE handsets and just been appauled at how quickly the phone slows down once you get data on it.

Everything loaded pretty quick, especially the loading of the java games, it was probably in the region of twice as fast as my 6230 I use on a day to day basis, that being said this was a beta software build on the phone and it may differ when the phone hits the market, but we will wait and see.

Surely it beats the Nokia series 40 though? Web page over 64k? No chance!

The graphics no doubt are top notch, my mate has a F500i, which is now probably about 3 models down from it, and its got this 3d tennis game, and the graphics blew me away when i first saw them, on a phone that cost 70 quid you got SNES style graphics, probably, even a bit better, so no doubt they could recreate doom on a phone like the K750i

AnderzJ, the best graphics technology? Might be Nvidia

/me gets coat and lets it thru the door before the flamethrower toasts my bum

Orange usually are slower, but their quality control checks are very good. Orange are not likely to have tis handset on release till at least mid june, subject to thier review approval.
