About LinkBacksHi - in a Crossfire article Rys implied you don't need a 500W power supply for SLi or Crossfire. He said he'd explain later but I couldn't find anything.
Anybody know about this?

Well it depends on the rest of your hardware as well. If you whre JUST powering graphics cards from a psu, then you wouldnt no.

You'll need a PSU that can just about peak at 500 but normally only manage about 300-350 to run SLI/XFire. However, if you have a solid, quality 350W PSU you'll probably be OK.
Shuttle PSUs serve as a great example... look at how much load they can handle.
There are lots of other factors, such as at what operating temperature the ratings are based and whether or not you run eleven hard drives in your rig, but I think you'll get the idea by now.

Hey Grumps,
We're just putting the finishing touches to the article which will explain it all. It's true that you don't need 500W at all, or anywhere near it. You simply need a high quality ATX 2.0 supply (for the split +12V rails) with decent current draw on each +12V rail.
Keep your eyes peeled for the article, I'll post in this thread as soon as we let it loose.

A single 12V rail with a rating of about 30A should be sutiable.
