    PowerColor RADEON X800 XL 512MB

What do you want from a £290 video card today? Is it performance, performance, and yet more performance in present games, or is it a deal of futureproofing at the expense of, you've guessed it, performance. PowerColor's X800 XL 512MB pricing treads dangerously on X850-class water, which is a great deal faster in almost every conceivable gaming scenario.

Can't see many of these being sold. £100 wasted for now. x800xl AIW is more bang for buck.

Btw just a small comment on the article - the graphs are difficult to read beacuse the lines hide one another. Would it be possible to use say a dashed red line for the 512mb x800 and a solid orange line for the 256mb version for example?

The only game I know of that was designed to use more than 256MB viedo ram is EQ2 when using very high resolution textures. The bad is that EQ2 don't have a build-in benchmark, it's not a ego-shooter, it's not in the top10 and so most websites don't benchmark it.

I would really like to see if a game, that is called to be designed with future hardware in mind, can really make use of this video ram.

In my case I'm using 1280x1024 (native TFT resolution) 32bit without AA/AF on a X700pro 256MB right now and will likely have to upgrade next months. I would bench myself how much video ram is used but i don't know how.
