    AMD Athlon FX-60

    Yep, you guessed it right

The Athlon 64 FX, pinnacle of AMD's consumer processor offerings, now has two cores. Two cores, to more effectively run a modern OS, is why you see Hector Ruiz, AMD's CEO and Chairman of the Board, seemingly powered by one. Yes, the CPU is actually so good that it can replace the human brain.

It should be under 800 quid

The pricing on hexus should appear very soon as the database has had the relevant items and codes added to it. Fingers crossed it should be working soon

£787. Now I know that people just buy these CPUs anyway, regardless of price, but even the people with the readies will think twice about that.

There's a couple of blokes I know that get the latest and greatest regularly, and this is the first time I've ever heard them grumble about the price of an FX processor.

Can't believe you got that cpu and haven't overclocked it - or were you under strict notions not too Anyone buying that cpu will be either insanely rich or an enthusiast oveclocker. Presuming it's multi is unlocked what can it do? 3ghz on both cores under water cooling?

I have no idea what you are talking about There was a mention of overclocking in the article, but it's possible you just missed that. However, that was just a mention and I have been doing other work with the chip, speed wise.

I've been holding it off for a separate article, but that's 1.4V, 3GHz 24/7 stable on both cores, watercooled. Any questions, just ask in here.

Wow, that is very very very impressive, puts my S64 to shame anyday.

Any chance of doing Pifast to 10M for us? I wanna get a picture of how quick this is.

    200MHz DDR @ 2-2-2-5, 1T, 3GHz CPU = 40.46s in the HEXUS Pifast test to 10M.

Thanks for the review, but why are the gaming benchmarks carried out at such low monitor resolutions, anyone who spends £800 on a chip will not be running @ 1024 x 768 mid detail

How about some at 1280 x 1024 or even better at 1600 x 1200 High Detail, which is much more real life IMO.

    It's ok, don't worry.

I have now found some gaming benchmarks at a higher resolution.

I always have been perplexed at the folks who pay these prices for the fx cpu's, I understand that there may be some cases of genuine need, but the hardware royals who buy them just for the sake of it, beggars belief. I prefer bang for buck, and the fun of oc, although the days of a 50quid barton hitting 2.5/6/7 are long gone, as AMD look to be doing away with lower end cpu's.

Sorry, but 1.4V, for 3Ghz on water, is not impressive at all, for a CPU thats costs 800quid.

I could buy 2 X1800XT's for that, and have change.
