I guess this means Dell might finally sell AMD systems....
Either that or we'll just end up with a sub-brand that DOES ship that quad-GPU Intel rig that Dell demo'ed recently...
I'm with 64Bit on this one, I think it will allow Dell to sell AMD systems which they cannot currently due to their agreement with Intel...
I think it will end up being Dells route to the AMD market share, well atleast to test the waters

werent they like primary competition to dell? so buying them kinda getting rid of competition , i feel somewhat sorry for future alienware owners.
Alienware and Dell were never competitors....

Dell intends on running Alienware as a standalone subsidiary, and has no plans to co-market products with Alienware, or even offer Alienware PCs for sale over Dell's website.
It's only the third corporate acquisition in Dell's 22-year history, and Alienware's approximately $170 million in annual revenue is just a sliver of Dell's nearly $56 billion in 2005 sales. However, the move is seen as a chance for Dell to gain more of a footprint in the consumer PC market.
Dell spokesman Jess Blackburn said only about 15% of Dell's revenue comes from its consumer sales, with the remaining 85% from its main corporate customer base, and that the deal helps the company reach into new markets.
