    HEXUS.reviews :: Zalman FC-ZE1 Fatal1ty

The TNN 5600AF's RRP of £700 along with TNN 300’s RRP of £400 are two models in the current Zalman range. Fairly obvious then why they had limited success but now it's all change as Zalman join the hundreds of manufacturers producing fan-cooled chassis.

At £250 RRP the Zalman Fatal1ty FC-ZE1 is far from cheap but can its design, performance and build quality justify the price?

SO just use it Saturdays and Sundays

I ...er.......nice hard drive rollers. Shame about the door not coming off, I always lie my PC's down for a build, fix etc. (and that's fairly often)

Surely you mean you go for a lie down after a fix and build

Nice review - I've been tempted to get this but with my fetish for collecting hard-drives I'd have filled the bays straight away.

Maybe if they launched a bigger version with more bays for those of us who have more than 3 hard-drives ( Easily done - 2 raid arrays of raid 0 ) I would be seriously tempted.

I personally hope that Zalman listen to the people and produce a good quality, high capacity quiet chassis - plain and effective.

I'm a bit dissappointed tbh, I've owned a lot of zalman stuff and have even more coming tomorrow. Not as good as I thought it would be. They could of done something much more interesting with the HDD cages seeing as this case is wider than average. No way I'd be able to use this with even if I cut down the number of hard drives I own.

Has Wendel just learnt to write? I was amazed from the the shots quite how much text was on the case. Believe it or not, people who spend £250 on a case rarely need the instructions etched into it.

Still a great chassis, but the devils in the details. Not like Zalman to miss that point.

Yeah, turning it into a Fatality, sorry, Fata1ty, billboard is a big mistake. You don't spend 250 quid on a nice aluminium case to have tacky crap etched all over it. I'd rather get an Antec P150 and put the change towards a new graphics card or something.

seems as though the etchings might have put some people off

Shame...I think you might all be right tho....not sure I'd want someone's name who could beat me at every game ever made, all over my PC.

In fact...taking that a step further, I'd alsonot like someone who I could beat at every PC game ever made's,.. name upon it either, as a PC with "Zak's Mum" written on the side would not sell at all.

My interest has been revoked after seeing the rediculous amount of adverts as well as some stupid qwerks in the chassis design... "move along" would be appropiate right now.

Nice review but I can't help but think it can be summed up as so:
    Its expensive and flawed.

The thumbscrews on the side panel is poorly thought out as is the allen keys needed to attach the drives properly. The fact that you void you warrantee removeing four allen keys is a joke!

Overall I'm dissapointed by this case. There are plenty of very good cases out there even with coolermaster appalling line up being discounted from my list.

You have to hope zalman pull their finger out and redesign it with some changes.

For the best part of £250 I was expecting something good. Thats leaving aside the truely awful graphics!

Zalman if you are reading this I can come up with several ways of fixing the problems very easily with low cost I'm sure your engineers can as well.

Was it quiet? I know it's subjective, but if Zalman say you can't mess with the fans without voiding the warranty then the case might just be a well constructed windfarm. And nothing else...

Guys I didnt say in the review touching the fans would void the warranty.

The warranty is void if you remove an integral part of the chassis. That is the front, back and left rear.

Mind you removing the front fans would be difficult, there isn't much room in there.

    Matt.
