Thank you for removing the reply box adverts

Its been in operation for a while but it doesn't hurt to say thank you for removing the annoying adverts from the reply box.

We understand the frustration and difficulty it causes.

We are of course looking at other way's, but thats by the by, we will make sure its less intrusive next time.

Our only problem now is the people blocking the ads, its harder for me to take a decision on this without the ads being shown on screen for some people
Please do not message me about Scan Free shipping, I no longer work for HEXUS.net

Its a sad state of affairs if people are still blocking ads, of all the places i surf on the internet, Hexus has always been the best and most relevant advertising. Hardly interferes with anything on here and if there are issues its always sorted quickly (dell advert for example)

    Keep up the good work.

I think I've mentioned this before, but I have to block flash ads or my computer grinds to a halt. If you could make an option to have only traditional (jpeg, gif) ads I wouldn't block them (and don't now, but most are flash).

Theres a few ad servers that seem to take forever to respond, one of which being ad.uk.doubleclick.net and means pages take forever to load. Is there no way to code it so that the transfer of the next part of the page is possible before the ad has finished loading?

Re: Thank you for removing the reply box adverts

    Well,

I initially thanked you guys for removing these adds, and I still have. I feel it appropriate to say how now dissapointed I am now that you've re-introduced the adverts in the reply to box

QFT; the reply box ads are intrusive, but liveable with. The timeouts and delays in page loads caused by the ad servers are a complete pain, on the other hand.

I guess donations wouldn't work for some reason? wikipedia, freenode and SDF seem to work just fine on them.

Re: Thank you for removing the reply box adverts

That's not the revenue model that they've adopted. Personally I don't mind the ads; they're a lot less intrusive than some implementations (such as the "watch this ad before we let you get to the site" approach). The only thing that DOES irk is when you're stuck looking at a blank frozen page and you can see that the machine holding things up is an ad server.

Re: Thank you for removing the reply box adverts

The adds on hexus's main site has stopped me reading it (I think they are called google words) - so I now only use the forums, the forum banners are normally not a problem, with the odd glitch which is more than acceptable.

I can't stand the reply box adds.
