actually moby dick lots of hunter gathering tribes were or are very peaceful. also natioanlism differs cos it is organised in a much much larger scale and isn't based on family ties but rather an abstract nation.
Its human nature to be warlike - I'm not saying that I agree with it - In fact I applaud you for having a go at the america.

moby it is obvious that humans have a capacity for some very nasty acts but to say war is human nature is reductionist and a self fufilling prophecy. Humans have also shown great capacities for altruism and love, but u rarely hear people saying that humans are natural good. Conflict is inevitable in human society but not all conflict involves A 10's or Cruise missiles, i get into an argument with someone in the street and it might end in a punch up! a nation state gets into a argument with another nation state it can lead to nuclear holocaust. Therefore it is not a product of human nature but rather a product of social strucutures.
as for having a go at america well im sorry to disappoint u but i hate the crap anti americanism that passes for radicalism these days. I may despise the US state but then again so do plenty of Americans.

They have these naiive ideas about about what they want to destroy but have no idea of what they want to replace it with. Reminds me of the Mayday protest a few years back before the police basically ran it, in the morning before the whole thing kicked off I was in McDonalds getting myself some breakfast before the show. These kids comes in, about 17, obviously anarchists from the smell and the Rammstein T-Shirts. I thought the were going to wreck the place but they only wanted Egg McMuffins. Actually, I think it was one of them who later smashed the front window, which I took as a comment about the food.

Im not saying love will solve anything what i was merely saying is that humans are very complex and that we have as much capacity to care for each other as we do to kill each other. I actually think bringing human nature (whether as naturally good or naturally bad) is stupid and hides the real issues.
