There's got to be a limit to what we can discuss...

How about you put a ban on all subjects to do with legal issues? They cause so many people to get annoyed as people will ALWAYS have different views. I am very legal citizen with good morals yet I seem to get flamed for my views and people who like illegal things always seem to get the upper hand and are allowed to continue.

Please, can we have no more discussions about speeding, illegal software, illegal immigrants, fighting, drugs or any other such act or subject that crosses the fine line of legallity. That is what causes so many problems that Lynni (and others) hate so much.

If you do it, fine, just keep it off these pleasent forums... please? I don't want to argue here, but some people really wind me up. It's bad enough in RL, but do we need it here too?

And having just read drugs testing in schools, i aggree! thats exactly what i was on about last week, in reference to big al's post

It may be best to perhaps create a discussion/debate section for the Forum, but I dunno.

I've mostly ignored that stuff since I got me knuckles rapped last time I joined in :(

But surely you can leave the unnecessary illegal talk to outside the forums and down the pub?

I'm not being ignorant, I just don't see why people are allowed to talk openly on a public 'technology website' forum about anything.

Remember, you dont NEED to argue anything. As soon as it gets to something you aint comfortable with then you make a concious decision to keep reading or leave it alone.

There's a difference between arguing and debate. Unfortunately some people can't differentiate.

If you took away all the non-technical threads on this Forum, what percentage would be left over?

That's part of what attracted me to this place, no hang-ups about Off Topic stuff. Or so I thought.

I'm just taking in the word 'illegal'. Hmm. That may be a bit different to what I was thinking. Warez is illegal, I'm glad that's taboo here. But 'anything illegal'. Bit of a hazy definition, that one.

Warez is illegal and any discussion of it is removed without question. Speeding and drugs are illegal too, but those posts are allowed to continue, even video's and pics are posted about them...

I'm not suggestion to remove anything non-technical. :P

I'll raise the point with the other admins.

as far as "illegal" goes we cannot allow anything which condones said illegal activites.

example "Look at my dodgy copy of XP" - will be removed

however , there is nothing wrong with a debate on the legality & isuses surrounding unlicenced software.

To an extent this should be carried through to other issues, for instance a debate on the legalisation of Cannibus is fine, but I dont want to see adverts for an eighth on the FS boards! ;)

Now I am aware that a number of hexus regulars have openly admitted that they are regular users. This is up to the, but please be aware that anything you post of Hexus is as public as shouting it in the middle of your high street , so be carefull what you say.

We have to be stricter on the legality of technology as after all we are a technology based web site.And as such are at risk of vendors ( whos software could be being pritated ) reading the site and then Hexus as a brand loosing all respect because its seen as a warez haven.

I hope this answers some questions - I will get clarification on other issues.

I see no problem with "discussion" on warez, and other illegal activities. Condoning or offering warez I think the admins are talking about.

And the Question Time forum I thought it was OK to air topics like these?

As long as people do not openly condone and promote illegal activities, I dont think we should limit what we can talk about. Why on earth should we openly censor ourselves when we dont have to? Do you not like the relative freedom of speech provided by these forums?
