    maximum search results

    Why is this just 250?

    If I'm not around for a couple of days (or even just a single busy day) results drop off New Posts, it's more than a little bit annoying.

    Is there anyway it could be increased? Even if it was just for New Posts (or is that a global variable in vB?)

    Re: maximum search results

    On a big forum like ours it's difficult. If max posts is too high then PHP runs out of memory (and the memory limit is high already). The alternative is to remove words from indexing, but working out which words to exclude is hard.

    So I'm afraid the answer is no.

    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    That is a real shame

    I wonder how they do it on forum.xda-developers.com then?

    Re: maximum search results

    A forum I use a lot cut searches to a max of one per user every minute to cut down pressure on the server - cost cutting exercise.

    C'mon lads/ladies, dip into your pockets so we can all chip in for some more RAM

    for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

    Nah, DR can just contact all the memory manufacturers to do a massive "High-Density Server RAM Comparison" review and then just lob the whole lot into the server

    Re: maximum search results

    Guys,

    There is a load of things which we are doing behind the scenes - we will hit the 'on' button when we are ready... this is one of the things which no doubt will be done when we upgrade the forums to the new version.

    We don't want to turn on a feature then have to turn it off due to things breaking - we want you guys to have stable action or you end up moaning anyhow

    Our servers aren't poorly spec'd in regards to RAM or Compute performance so we will look in to this.

    David
