Can I kindly request that the word sniggers is allowed?

I think it's suffering from Scunthorpe Syndrome.

    Hang on, hang on...

Are you telling me that the swear filter is circumvented that easily?

    Purely by adding text formatting...

    Re: Offensive Terms

I've come across this before (i'm pretty sure Tiggs and myself were laughing about it at the time).

Snigger works but the plural does not.

Just tested it and the offending word is blocked whether it is plural or singular.

Oh, and the one that I always laughed at was Matsu****a, especially on a tech site

(last one doesn't matter now as they are now just called panasonic)

It's starred out when hovering over the link on the main forum page to preview the thread, guess formatting doesn't help there

Yes it is, but by doing it, the poster is clearly deliberately circumventing the swear filter, and the posting holiday that WILL result from doing that (in any circumstance other than one like the current thread where there is clear justification) is not so easy to circumvent, since it's done manually as soon as a mod or admin sees it.

Weeeeeeell, I could have used some similar but innocuously non-racist expression to do a test in principle, and then amended the filter list after satisfactory proof of concept and extensive and conclusive testing ...... couldn't I?

    Re: Offensive Terms

I find it amusing that these filters draw attention to hidden swear words that you wouldn't otherwise notice!
