Numbers of Guest Users?

Just as a general point of interest, I'm very surprised by the ratio of registered members to guests, has it been noticed how high this ratio can get at times?.

I know the forums are easy as pie to register for - but looks like there are plenty more people that could join the community?....

currently....98 (34 members and 64 guests)

It's not that surprising since a lot of traffic will come from search engines which send the user directly to a thread or if other sites have referenced a popular thread. In those instances most guests are only here to look at one thread and then they leave.

What happens then? Do loads of people join just to post a few things or do the forums just get a lot of views

I've not run any forums, so i hadn't considured the google nature of hitting a thread.

"il2 forum vef" - gives hexus as top result from google.... which is pretty impressive.
As i said - i was just interested in what you thought about it...

Anyway you can find out what people are hitting directly from google searches then Az?. what people are interested in reading?

if you have access to the server logs then you can check for referrals. They're not always accurate as it's easy to spoof a referral but it gives a good picture. I don't have access to the logs so I can't pass on any information here

Quite often when I'm at work, I don't actually "Log On" with my user name (as I often wander away from my desk etc) so I would appear as a "Guest" even though I'm not!! (although it does confuse me as the time is an hour behind if you're a guest!)
