Classifieds - Confirmation of Rules for Freebies

    Just wondering. The rules say:

ALL ITEMS NEED TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED... [snip]
In a sense, that's my question answered already, but one of Dave's posts makes it a little ambiguous.

If I put something on there for free collection, so the buyer never has to pay a penny for anything, not even delivery, is a photo with label etc still essential?

    See here:

As to the photo of the DLC content - I fail to see the purpose? We instituted the rules to make sure that an item being sold is in the seller's possession. As in this case it is a) being given away for free and b) intangible property, a photo would serve little to no purpose.

Come on chaps - lets be sensible about this - Finlay is a member that has been here a while and is unlikely to rip someone off (if that is even possible) for a freebie?
I would presumably meet crieteria a), and the unlabelled criteria c) in the final paragraph, but not criteria b).

This might come across as a bit spurious, but it isn't - I have a few items I wouldn't feel comfortable selling for a variety of reasons, although it's still good kit and I would like Hexus members to benefit. I also don't have a camera and getting hold of one isn't particularly easy, so may make the difference between hexus or freecycle.

    Cheers

Same as what Dave posted, It's good practice to have a photo, but if it's free for collection it serves little / no purpose.

No issue not having a photo as long as I'm concerned. I wouldn't extend this though if any money was to change hands, even for postage.

Re: Classifieds - Confirmation of Rules for Freebies

As Dave's post says, though, it is impractical to photograph intangible objects - the reason for the photos is to demonstrate that the items are in the sellers possession - as well as giving the potential purchaser an idea of what they are buying.

If you are genuinely giving the stuff away, and the buyer is collecting, then we can make an exception on a case by case basis, particularly as you are well known on the boards.

However, even a simple photo from (say) a phone's camera would help a potential 'buyer'.

Edit (Sorry - agent - think we cross posted!)
