Positive reputation
We havent had complaints of spam for a while, but it always comes round every so often where there's a wave of it, so i was wondering how you could go about curbing it a bit.
Now i dunno if it'd work, but i've seen on another forum that i post on, they have an option to "pos rep" someone for a particularly good post. the more "chips" they get (1 for every 100 pos reps they recieve), the higher standing they get and more respect.
Maybe if this sort of thing was introduced people might be more inclined to post more informative and worthwhile posts instead of just spam.
Oh, you can also give "neg rep" so if someone posts a particularly spammy or uncalled for post, they can have one pos rep removed.
I've tried to explain this as best i can, if you think it's a decent idea and want me to explain it better or whatever, drop me a PM :)

I've seen something similar on Motley Fool's forums, where you can reccomend peoples posts. The author of the most rec'd post gets an award each month. It's an idea I approve of!

I will raise this with the mod team
-
Hmmm. Could be interesting. Might insight people to post more and more informative stuff! :)
Not that there is really a problem of spam here though :|
-
On the surface its a good idea.
However it brings around problems when people are down rated simply because the person reading the post doesnt like the author. When people get knocked down, their thoughts may often run along the lines of "why should i post at HEXUS when they dont appreciate my posts ?".
A current way to highlight good posts is to use the "rate thread" feature, which will show stars next to it.
I like the idea, its been mentioned a few times here before, but is the risk of abuse by some people worth upsetting members ?
Just my 2p.

oh, i didnt mention the fact that when you give someone positive or negative rep you have to state why and it links to the post in question. It also doesnt let you rep someone too many times without repping others.
-
It's activated with the following conditions
a) if anyone tries to abuse the system they will be banned. No second chances, no excuses, just banned
b) All complaints or issues with ratings to be sent via pm to the moderator of the forum. No public slagging matches or rule a) will be invoked
c) You all need to rate me now to thank me for giving you this :)
-
Cool... so that means that the more rep points, the more highly "regarded" your posts are? 1 point per post? What do the colours mean? (I've seen black and green so far!)
-
Yeah can we plaese have an explanation as to how it works? :p
-
-
Looks like black means you have your reputation disabled, green enabled. You have to manually enable it in your control panel (under options)
-
So how do you see someones reputation?
aha, 'Az is on a distinguised road' :D
-
Ah, yes. I just boosted Stubzz to the distinguished road also. (Don't ban me please, his post was helpful)
-
-
Right, so how do I a) see my reputation b) see other people's reputations?:)
Edit: right, I see how to view my own reputation. Nobody rated me yet?:(;)
Can I actually view individual comments people have made about me or about others?
Rich :¬)
