    Poor forum performance since update

    As title really, getting some really long waits now.
    To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

    Re: Poor forum performance since update

    Yeah, funnily enough the forums still run on an old server (just not the database... and the DB link is quick).

    I'll be moving the forums probably Monday afternoon so I can attempt to address the problem then!
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Re: Poor forum performance since update

    I bet it's the vBulletin software. Since Jelsoft where taken over by internet brands and the original developers left, vBulletin has become crap. The hexus forums are reasonably big and busy and I dont think vBulletin can cope.

    Another forum I post on recently had the same problem when they 'upgraded' to vBulletin 4 from 3 point something. They had loads of time-outs and hangs (worse than on here), and could see it was becoming a bigger problem the more posts and users the board had. They only fixed it by migrating to Xenforo.

    It be good if the admins could look at or consider maybe moving over to Xenforo. After all a message board that's about state of the art hardware should run state of the art software!

    Re: Poor forum performance since update

    I too noticed this last night around 7pm.

    In fact it was so slow, by the time the forum gave me the search results, I'd gone and found the video on google by searching for its contents and was 1/2 way through watching the crazy guy climb up the 1800 ft antenna.
