I can see its for the best, but i think people can decide for themselfs whether theyre trustworthy or not.

The For Sale / Wanted forum is an attraction to new users and by using that, they then start to check out the other forums and contribute to them.
By taking these forums away, they will now just go elsewhere to other forums where such draconian measures aren't in place.
After all, if someone wants to just buy or sell, is that so bad? People who want to involve themselves in the other forums will still do so, but new users may not now bother as they'll instantly go elsewhere.
Maybe you've shot yourselves in the foot here.
thanx for that. i lost all my post count due to the database crash and now can't go into the for sale forum. i even lost all my hexus feedback. maybe time to consider other forums?
Well if you attachment to these forums is that fickle then maybe somewhere like ebay full of anonimity would suit you better. 50 posts is not many and quite a reasonable requiremnet, make 5-10 sensible posts a day and you're a fully fledged member in under a weekQuote:

yes , but it tarnishes the whole site if we get a reputation for dodgy traders.I'd like Hexus to be a fun , informative but also safe place to surf.Quote:

I'm very suprised at the amount of people who are throwing their toys out of the playpen over this - 50 posts isnt that much to ask is it ? or am I reading "first born child" instead ?
The opinions expressed in this post do not refect those of team Hexus , simply my own.
well, if hexus had a watercooling forum and a linux forum, i could do with some more posts a day, but i don't do much case modding, don;t game much, don't help windows users (got enough of them at work), don't use apple, don't do programming (except my tivo), don't use SFF, don't do distributed computing, cars, bikes, motorsport are nothing for me.
there arent enough forums for me on here that really interest me. .
linux posts can go in the software forum, watercooling ones in the overclocking one.....
next question ?
Shame on u
I had a lot of posts and more than 25 +ve feedback on Hexus users before the data was lost in July
The FS forum was the main reason new visitors came to the site!!
I started off on Hexus looking to buy a switch( I think I bought it from jcoquillon on the FS forum) and then I started contributing to the other forums.
I wasn't a prolific poster who kooked for chain mail like threads to build up my count and I'm not that interested in rebuilding my count playing word association games or guess the film.
I read and trust the reviews and I used the review database on a daily basis - I also read the new posts on the other Hexus forums most days and Hexus net has been the homepage on my network for the last year. That said, I won't be back if the 50 post minimum requirment to view the FS forum is maintained. I can think of no good reason why this posting requirement has been arbitrarily imposed! Maybe I'm just too thick :)
No doubt Hexus will survive without me
yes but some warning would have been a good idea!!!
I honestly dont believe you need to find "chainmail" like threads to get your post count up that high.
Why not comment on some of the reviews - a good bit of healthy debate there is always a good thing ( for example )
Sadly, this may well be a case of the few spoiling it for the many - but such is life I'm afraid. I'm sure your input is welcome.
So any negative feed back is regarded as "throwing their toys out of the playpen"? Why have an input/feedback forum if this is the case.Quote:

Many people lost 100's of post counts and some, all of their Hexus Rating, ok I don't have a problem with my loss, but then weeks later to introduce a rule which stops those people from seeing a forum seems a little hash IMO
ok watercooling can go into the overclocking forum, but it also would fit into the modding forum.
ad with linux into the software forum, i don;t wanna go through all the widnows posts to find a linux related one. other forums (not going to mention names on here have windows and a linux forums)
Yes; I know people lost data but more nad more we have noticed people just using the FS forum we are trying to promote the community here.
In short 50 posts is not a lot if your only reason for visiting the forums is for sale prehaps you are not using hexus to its full potential :)
We could go on all night about the drawbacks of this new system but for the most part its for the better.
If you are going to leave the forums over something so small you would have left sooner or later over another matter surely :)

How about giving something back to the community - go elsewhere if you really want we dont make you sign up for trust all we ask is for you to have 50 posts to
a) Protect the members
b) show you there is a community here and encourage involvement.
People dont use the other forums all the time thats the issue.
Cat amonst the pgieons here, but that quite plainly stinks, I don't vist here very often, but I do join in from time to time. Those that have bought from me, or sold stuff to me know I don't mess them about.
A bit unfair on those such as myself whom are trusted buyers and sellers.
Still I am trying to make more of an effort to join in, there's just so many forums.
