    Drive Recommendation

In a review recently (can't remember the exact one) you guys mentioned that you recommend everyone get an SSD for any build they do no matter how small the drive. I agree to a point but there is a much better way.
Get any BIG drive 1TB+ and add ram in dual/triple/quad channel where applicable until you have 16/24/32 GB, this can be achieved very cheaply at the moment. Then once windows is installed and up and running install ImDisk Virtual Disk Driver and create an image file for whatever game you wish to install that's at least 1GB larger then the required install size and enable file compression then install the game into the ram drive. Save the image on your HD.
From then on before starting a game load up the image in ram which takes hardly anytime at all as it's a large sequentially read file and remember to save it when finished which is also very quick.
The drive performance will be far and away faster than any SSD will ever achieve and will never wear out as ram has no limits to the amount of writes per sector.
You can pick up 4x4GB for about £70 and a 1TB drive is around the same also this is a pretty comparable price for a reasonable SSD drive I believe and faster (in ramdrive) and higher capacity (physical drive)

Just a thought guys - I've been using this setup for about 3 months now.

    Re: Drive Recommendation

If you're on Home Premium you should be ok - that's got 16GB, Home Basic only has 8GB but then again, if you're building a machine for playing games on are you really gonna skimp with Home Basic?
