Do We Really Need Custom User Titles?

Well do we? We have sigs to put what we like in. I think it kind of defeats the object/point in having user titles if we choose what they say. I like the idea of having "levels" - choosing your own just destroys that system.

Just in case you don't know - the user title is the thing below your user name in your post. For example, mine says sernior member - the more posts you have, the better the rank.

I see the sig as beeing a place to put "your own thing", and the user titles area for the people who make/run these forums to put in a witty rank. These ranks should then get changed every 6 months - a year or so to stop people getting bored of the same ones.

We used to have this, but so many people wanted custom's that it was decided to change.
Im 50/50 on the matter. Considering postcount is visable by the username, i dont think it would make a huge difference.

Well I just don't see the point in having TWO places for people to put stuff, and I think a witty comment below everyones name is a good idea.

How about at the end of next week, we look at the poll again, and depending on the outcome, either change it or leave it as it is (unless it's too much work)?

If the general consensus is that a ranking status would be more appropriate as a user title then you lot can come up with the rankings. Then we'll make a decision if they sound reasonable

That sounds good. I think "witty" rankings would be good, but I'm afraid I'm not very witty, so maybe other could come up with names (assuming other people want this too ).

We used to have them based on gfx cards I think, but a lot of people do like the customs. I can't see if being a cause for concern though?
