Hexus website Poor text rendering on iPhone 4

I have noticed for quite a while now (a year or more) that the hexus website renders very poorly on an iPhone - this has been improved by the mobile version, but sometimes I want to look at the full desktop version. The text is very pixelated unless zoomed out too far to read - zooming in causes a very poor low res text to be rendered. I thought it must be a common issue with safari on iPhone, but so far I have only noticed this at hexus. Anybody else noticed this or know what's going on? Doesn't happen on original iPhone, iPhone 3G or iPad 2. I assume it's an issue with retina screens, but why only (as far as I can tell) hexus.net?

I do look at the app store from time to time to see if there has been an app for the iPhone so that I can keep up with the forums when I'm away from home. Never thought to post and ask about one, not sure if there would be enough demand to justify the development costs. Am I the only one that would want one of these?

If you mean it sometimes goes blurry and zooming out looks ok but as soon as you try to zoom in its unreadable then its not just HEXUS, although it does happen here to me far more than anywhere els for some reason.

Yeah - exactly that - it also seems to have cached it, showing "reader" beside URL - but is it something to do with a buggy safari or the coding of the site? Glad to know I'm not alone experiencing this phenomena.

There isn't a dedicated app, that is not needed. Have a look for tapatalk, the forums are set up to allow you to use that instead of a browser. Apparently it works well.

It's not so much for reading the forums - its for reading the news articles - too pixelated sometimes to read. It can't be an unknown issue - just an ignored problem.

I find that the mobile version of the Hexus website renders fine on my iPhone 4, if you are using the standard web address try using m.hexus.net instead.

Check the first sentence of the thread.

Right, you posted that a week ago, and I only tend to read new posts not the entire thread, so yeah, my bad, a week later I forgot something that you put in your opening line.

I don't want to enter into an argument, I'd simply like to find a solution to bad rendering on the iphone4 - I thought it might be a useful discovery for whomever develops the site. I'm not intending to cause offence.

I just tried the full desktop site on an iPhone 4, iOS5, and didn't find that the text was blurry at all. Have you tried turning your phone off and on again, deleting cache, and that sort of thing?

I have just tested again - as you say it is clear, something has changed - love to know if it was to do with this thread?

I haven't done anything that would have affected it. No idea what it was.
