Doubtfull, but couldnt you resize the banner ad.

What I mean is your advert would always be a certian width, would only be maybe 50 pixels smaller and would solve the problem.
Any good?

Nope, the ad is a standard size which cannot be changed and even if we resized it, it would still depend on the resolution the user is viewing the forums at

The easiest solution i'm sure would be to place the banner somwhere above the line of 'tools' links.

Our sponsor paid for the slot in the top middle so I'm afraid we can't move it

Plus the ad is too big for the top right at anything from 1024*768 downwards
