    Is it just me or have the servers been down since yesterday evening?

    Yep, we had some problems yesterday for quite some time. All seems to be well now though, and I'm sure Az/David/PD/someone that's not me will have a fuller explanation of things in due course.

    Site went down at 7pm. It was a number of failures, one tied to 30MBIT/s bandwidth usage

    Two links to articles on a slashdot post were responsible for the bandwidth spike. I think that caused follow-on failure elsewhere. Whoopsy.

    It was not the Slashdot which took us down - it was something else which was not in place to deal with the volume of traffic.

    I am not going to go in to things here and now - neither am I going to argue with this - at the end of the day the server may well have failed without the Slashdot. Thats my point - the Slashdot did not directly take us down.

    Anyway we are again exploring this to solve the problem.
