Videos ads automatically playing with sound on Hexus Mobile site

As the title says, video ads have been automatically playing with sound and I haven't been able to successfully stop it. I check Hexus on my way back from work while listening to music, causing music playback to stop.

Could someone explain what I can do/what's wrong?

Hmmm, I've had a similar issue on desktop Chrome 56 on Windows 10 a couple of times recently; when viewing an article (in this case the ASUS ROG Strix 1080 Ti announcment) several advert audio streams start autoplaying at the same time, but there is no video advert visible so there is no way to stop any of the audio streams. It's intermittent (I just opened the same article again and it didn't happen) but next time it happens I'll see if there's any way to identify what's causing the audio...

Right, just had it happen again, when viewing an i7 3770k review!

Reloading the page with Chrome's dev tool, I suspect the offending ads come from bs.serving-sys.com/Serving/adServer.bs - this was called several times from a script named "ebHtmlInstreamBanner.js" when the ads played; I've since managed to load the page without the autoplaying ads and on those instances this script wasn't loaded.

Screenshot - we need to track this shouldn't happen.

Screenshot of the page won't help as there's nothing visible - that's one of the problems, the video isn't displayed, but the audio plays, and without the video widget being displayed there's no way to stop it.

I might be able to download the full network log if it happens again. Or you could just get Jonatron to sit at a laptop endlessly refreshing a page with dev tools open until he suddenly gets blasted with 5 adverts all playing at the same time ;)

Quick work identifying the culprit! It had started happening on every new page I visited today, but I haven't noticed it for a while so it looks like whatever's been done has been successful :)

FWIW this was happening to me too, while I was trying to read the Ryzen review just after NDA lift, even when I closed and tried reloading the tab. All seems OK now though.
