It isn't as good as when the system was first introduced a few years' ago, and someone posted asking people to check out a link; a link that actually took you to the same thread but "Thanked" them! :P
It does go when the post reaches a certain age - not sure what that age is, as i don't have sufficiently awesome power to find out! :)

When I view the site on the phone the 'Thanks' option is not available at all, I guess that's because of limited space? :)
