    Adverts

I'm not protesting against them, think they look just fine where they are but

How long have they been there?

I just looked at the top right and noticed adverts there, have they been there for ages and I just not noticed or are they new?

I know...might unblock the google ones, but the newegg one was completely pointless as I am never going to bother ordering something from the US...not worth the hassle really imo.

Why would you wanna block them? They're not causing an inconvenience.
Are the Google ones those clever ones that give you ads based on keywords in a thread or what you've searched for or anything?

Less scrolling. Its actually quite big on my screen (larger than standard ads anyway), so having to scroll past it every time was a bit annoying.

THe google ads are much better.

At the end of the day as long as we can pay the bills.

Remember - you can turn past them in mags.

Would people be interested in paying lets say £25 a year not to have ads on HEXUS or the forums?

^^Ummn NO! lol nothing aginst ad but wouldn't a UK reseller pay more for the ads for eg Scan, Ebuyer, Dabs. That will also help users a bit. Another thing when u click on find the cheapest price on a review page u get to dealtime US??? For god sake atleast point it to the uk one since u have "UK Technology & Reviews"

The site may be hosted in the UK but that doesn't mean our readership are entirely UK based or that the UK is even a majority. It should be obvious that we have a large number of US readers given that we have US adverts. The US advertisers are not stupid, they wouldn't pay for ad space if they didn't get the relevant referrals.

Forgive my total complete and ignorance of how the web works, but would it not be possible to target ads according to the location of the viewer? Google always gives me UK ad links so I guess they must know where I am.

I'd be pleased to see a 'buy it here' link at the end of reviews; I see that some of them already have an embedded link to Scan which is a good start....

Yes, that would be really good idea. Or you could have real time price just like Anandtech. It is also a good way to earn money (affiliation). And will be good for resellers as they will get more potential customers.

That feature already exists, its listed at the end of every review where you can currently physically buy the products involved.

For example, Scan have the box and they maintain thier prices themselves.
