So everything is working fine now...:)
I have the same problem too.
I've had it for a while, so I should apologise for not getting off my arse and posting about it sooner!
I haven't been able to read the main Hexus page for weeks due to a crashing browser whenever I visit the site.
Upon loading of the page, it seems ok. Although a little sluggish, I'm not sure if it's the ad's, but scrolling just isn't a smooth process.
Anyhow, I do a bit of reading, so far so good, then out of the blue, I get this message:
I run the latest version of Internet Explorer with Windows XP Pro SP2.Quote:
IEXPLORE.EXE
The instruction at "0x7d5db4ef" referenced memory at "0x00000050". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
I keep my PC up to date with the latest drivers, updates etc.
I run Norton Internet Security.
I have no plugins installed, and as far back as I can remember, IE has never crashed on any other website.
Hope the info is useful,
Parm
Indications are that anit-virus can cause this or a corruption in the IE install. You can repair IE by looking here -> http://www.techsupportforum.com/comp...c/45915-1.html
Althought I doubt it is related have a look here

If you have had crashes before - can you try now - we have removed stuff from the www.HEXUS.net homepage and the review_print.php to try and confirm this is the bug
No problems with Firefox so far...;)
Can you try IE?
FireFox never crashed on HEXUS
David,
I was also suffering from the IExplorer.exe error on works machine last week (thurs/fri) this only happened on the home-page.
Saying that it hasnt happened so far this week but if it does I shall let you know
Okay
Same here...
So you are not seeing crashes on IE?
We have been in talks with Microsoft over this (due to the reports they are getting) their reponse is this:
Quote:
If they (your readers) disable JavaScript then they can see all the pages without problem. Right now it seems to be related to how IE interacts with Intellitxt. We're not going to say that it's Intellitxts problem by any stretch as IE may have some undesirable behavior in this space. Microsoft and their engineers are looking in to this.
If I might add my 2pence. Occasionally I find that the HEXUS main page will hang for a couple of seconds, in fact it will hang firefox for a couple of seconds. This is, seemingly at least, just before the Intellitxt is added to the page. Perhaps this, and the IE crashes, are in some way connected? Perhaps Firefox handles whatever is going on differently?
Just tried it using IE, no crashes as of yet, seems to scroll smoother too.
Is the hexus.co.uk domain no longer working? I've had it in my bookmarks for years, but can't access it now, asks for a username and pass.
HEXUS.co.uk - we will get on to this :)
If you noticed before, the HEXUS site would load, then CPU loads would rocket and it would cause IE to crash.
