Slow Site?

Been struggling accessing the site all day, can access it but page loads are incredibly long.

GTMetrix shows a complete page load time of 30 seconds.

In some case some pages are taking a minute or more to load.

As stated in another thread, it's being caused by a spambot infestation trying to sign up.

I was just about to post about the same thing since it's been happening for a while now. Slow/very slow loading.

I think this thread needs a bump, this issue is pretty terrible and I would imagine is driving people away from using the site and forums. It's frequently taking upwards of 30s or even a minute to actually load pages, and other times it just times out. And it's not just the forums either, hexus.net is painfully slow, although that does tend to load... eventually.

It's particularly bad as I type this but slowness now seems to be a common thing when visiting the site.

I can't say I've noticed any recent slowness myself here on the Forums.

Checking the main HEXUS site did seem to show it failing due to slowness for a moment a few minutes ago, but a refresh shows that it's fine now.

It's been a frequent thing for me lately, and it applies to home connection, mobile and in work (to rule out some weird local problem causing it). All different ISPs, other sites unaffected.

A friend has commented on it too, so not just me either.

It does vary throughout the day, and sometimes hitting refresh a few times results in a successful load.

Right as I type this, hexus.net seems OK, forums are intermittent.

I've had issues over the past 15 minutes loading both the Forums and main HEXUS site, and it appears to be serve.themediateam.net being the culprit making it hang.

Blocking that makes things load quickly again.

This is only the second time in recent memory I've experienced it. I assumed it was a site update. I just get to the list of new posts, load teh ones I want in new tabs, then go do summat else for a few minutes.
All clear and back up to speed now, though.

I noticed it a moment ago, and since blocking serve.themediateam.net for the time being again as a test, as I suspected that could once again be the culprit, I was proven correct.
