Seems a bit old school uploading pictures to somewhere like imgur then having to link to them.
More and more forums I am using have the ability to upload and insert/attach pictures directly to the forum.
Would be very handy

Can you use https://forums.hexus.net/members/albums.html
Or you were looking for something slightly different?
Does that allow you to insert images from your album into forum posts? If so yes

Well I never knew that, yes that is kind of what I was looking for, just some forums have it directly on the post page rather than having to upload to albums and link from there but it does the job![]()

Is the album total size still laughably small though?
I have had to delete pictures from my album in the past to fit new ones in, and they are pretty small albums with heavily compressed and small pictures. Apologies if you stumble across historic posts of mine that make no sense with the picture missing, but that would be why.

I would assume that the forum software HEXUS is using still has the per-post attachments function, but that it's simply that the permissions are set so that nobody but Admins and perhaps Mods would be allowed to do it, to encourage the gallery or external image host way of linking, to keep storage requirements down.
Well yes, most people use external image hosts. I've seen plenty of broken links on here over the years because of it, and it generally means that if I want to make a post that should involve adding an image then I just don't bother. But then perhaps fewer of my random meanderings would be seen as a positive by some![]()
It seems to me that those hosted at Imgur last for years, so I'd imagine the only thing that would cause it for them would be a DMCA or similar notice (which is only likely to happen in certain circumstances) or other law enforcement action.
Unless the service closes down at some point of course, but if that was to happen it would prove your point about broken links.
I used to use imageshack but they ripped a load of mine down a few (several) years back and I lost a lot of pics from 2008-2012ish. Worse they recycled the weblinks so some threads got random images plonked in them which make no sense at all. Most just ended up with broken links. Really frustrating.
Also on the subject of storage - still only a 70 message limit? Really?
Tinypic was the same way with them deleting images at some point and then recycling the image links. They might have based it on whether the image got any hits within a certain time period before they automatically deleted it or something.
Another setting that I would assume hasn't really been thought about over the years, so easily overlooked.
True, I know I've seen a few messages in threads from various members to other various members over the years telling them to clear their inbox, but assuming nobody specifically asked HEXUS staff about increasing the limit, it wouldn't surprise me if it was deemed as nothing to worry about.
All of this is just me guessing of course, I've not spoken with any HEXUS staff, Admins, or Mods about any of these settings before (to my recollection at least), so I could be completely mistaken and there may be other specific reasons that settings have stayed the same.
