what size is your display? If for example you have a 19" CRT then 1600x1200 will be tiny, They were designed on a CRT, but the bad news foryou is they were designed on a 1920x1200 resolution screen,so the same depth as yours, and they are fine here.
Maybe you are pushing the res on too small a display?

i think mine is a 19" monitor, not too sure. all the windows and other fonts are fine as standard. just the bottons they are tiny. lol, anyhow i kow where they are, so not really fussed.

Just a small thing, the little X's for offline and online users - I find the colours a little to similar to discern who is off/on without looking closely. Could offline maybe be made the light blue colour?

Whats just as puzzling for me is you are UK based and yet you are getting the USA banner ads, are you using some sort of funky proxy? I mean you should only get that ad if you are USA based....

Well i keep on getting them. Im on AOHell (yes i no hence the name). I normally get UK adds on other sites. I have been wondering about that actually.
I think you are on a US proxy, which will slow your browsing anyway (to an extent) but I have had no other reports of the problems you have.
