Question CPU usage with the Guildwars Flash banner

I was browsing the Hexus forums and popped open a few tabs of different topics, only to find my computer grind to a halt at 100% cpu usage. After a bit of investigation it seemed that the Guildwars flash was taking up between 50%-75% CPU usage most of the time. Other flash banners either took no usage or the usage was only for the first run then died down. I'm running an Athlon XP-M at 2GHz with 1gig ram, GF4 Ti4200, XP SP2 and Firefox 1.0.6 - not the fastest system in the world but running Guildwars itself seems to tax the system less! Has anyone else noticed high CPU usage with this banner? If so would Hexus consider capping the size/complexity of their ads to keep browsing smooth and enjoyable?

I'm getting the same problem - I was wondering why Firefox felt a bit sluggish!

Yeah flash animations are hard on the CPU! I've had a problem with this before when someone on our forum had a flash sig - they had to remove it!

Maybe it's all the fancy smoke in the background of that one, other than that it looks like a pretty normal flash animation

If only the rest of the world was as good as Hexus at sorting out problems! Cheers David - browsing the forums is now as pleasurable as it should be
