    Hexus weekly Podcasts?

I've done a search, and it's been mentioned in minor places here and there, but I think the podcasts have been increasing in popularity over time and it might be a good way to extend the great Hexus empire

Before I explain, for those few people who don't know what Podcasts are, in basic it can be considered like episodic radio. Quite lame you might think, but they are suprisingly addictive, and its not an iPod-only based thing - they're just mp3 tracks, and additionally they are now officially supported by iTunes (so they automatically update, have information, add subscriptions etc) so anyone can listen to them ipod or not. It's all free (unless some bizarre fee based podcast is used, which is neigh cool)

Now I have about 4 subscriptions, and I admit they are entirely computer/game based :I I can't escape lol. But I honest to god look forward to the new releases... and it can be a good bytesize supply of the latest news, questions on Hexus with answers, important discussions of the week, games reviews, etc, complete with all the laughs in between. So basically like a weekly newsletter/magazine in the form of an hour mp3?

Especially now we have the new all-great Intel and Hexus competition, it may draw quite a large addition to the Hexus community so it could be a good chance to market the (free i assume) podcast. I for one demand to be in the podcast though!

I guess Americans can also get a chance to listen to British folks rambling on and discover there are parts to Britain than the accent of London lol. I have a fairly good mic too...

So yeah seriously I would really like to see a Podcast, and it could grow in popularity... plus my sexy voice can't go wrong

Thoughts? (No flaming ktnx just a suggestion)

Don't want to drag off topic, I think it's a great idea, but did anyone else get the Ricky Gervais podcast? Funny as holy hell!

There's a podcast going that is very similar to the format described above (reading out news stories etc.) called Diggnation, done by Kevin and Alex off The Screensavers (ex-American TV show)

I think it could work, but it would be up to the big-wigs (sorry ) to decide as obviously some care would have to be taken when putting the HEXUS name into such a public position, also, bandwidth costs can be insane when submitting to iTunes etc. (1hr approx = 30mb)

Yeah the Ricky Gervais one is SO funny, the way he laughs ridiculously too, you just HAVE to laugh or giggle at least!

My favourite Podcast is The Video Games Show, not really PC based (but still a good healthy dosage of PC gaming in there), and the structure, quality, humour, etc is fantastic. You can easily find it on iTunes podcast search, or www.videogamesshow.com I think...

Would we need special equipment for a Podcast? I have a Seinheisser PC130 headset, and an Creative X-Fi Music soon enough, but I seriously doubt that even comes close to the sort of stuff we might want. I'm not thinking anything expensive, but like some kind of quality optimizer or something....

Well I doubt anybody would want to listen to me in my Hull/Yorkshire accent, nor would I ever want to make a podcast. If I did make a podcast, I'd refuse to call it a podcast, it'd be a downloadable audio file...

"Look at my New MP3 player they call it an Ipod"
"ahh you mean a ACC player?"
(what is it with people calling things that dont play Mp3's, mp3 players???)

Obviously its going to be about technology and could be done like Click On-line the news 24 show but just the audio which you could download once a week say and listen while on the train/bus or car on the way to work

Deffinetly a very time consuming idea, though if it were ever to be done i would listen to it for sure, I just cant see it happening. But you never know !

Wasn't Podcast originated from the fact that iPods didn't have radio, and some sites would make episodic style radio mp3s for users or something?

I still think its a great idea

Podcasting is a bit of a farse, basically Mr. Adam Curry came up with the idea of releasing radio shows on MP3. Despite the fact that this has been done for years (Fanboy Radio anyone?) he used his mega-DJ-prowess to wow people into thinking he had invented the wheel.

I'd like to round up the inventors and supports of words such as Podcast and Blogosphere and launch them into the sun.

Many people claim to have invented it, although the term 'Podcast' was actually first coined in the UK's Guardian newspaper technology supplement.

Personally, i love podcasts. My regulars are Engadgets (a bit yanky doodle but good), BBC Go Digital, BBC film reviews and sometimes the BBC documentaries. Always on the lookout for more, it's just there are soooo many rubbish ones that good ones seem hard to find. But it guess it depends on what your into.

Podcasts - another novelty that will wear off soon, due to too many people using them.
