I believe that happens because Flash goes over the top of... well... everything, including the menus.

There is code in there to hide Flash ads if you mouse over the menu. It is only loaded once the page has so I suspect for some reason the page was still loading when you moused over the menu or alternatively for some reason the core javascript file was not downloaded to you. Try CTRL-F5 and view the page again
