    Forums lag In FF

Just now, I noticed that when i have the main forum page open, all my firefox windows start to lag. The scrolling down the pages isn't fluid at all and is very stuttery. I believe it's the big red sky HD banner at the top of the page that's causing the problem. I've not seen that before now, and the problem doesn't happen when that banner isn't there. Anyone else getting this?

Everything's OK in IE, it's just FF that's the problem. I think you had a similar problem with a flash banner a few months ago...

Using firefox version 1.5.0.2 BTW .

Just as a side thing. Sometimes firefox just crashes since the last update a few days ago. Anyone else get that?

The banner appes to have an implication on the load your CPU is under.

I have dropped an email to the appropriate people to see what we can do.

We've pulled the ad so as not to hurt your overworked CPUs

Hopefully a less CPU-hungry version will be created by whoever makes these things (I've never really thought about that... just who does think them up? hmmm...)

the netscape-format Flash plugin is horribly cpu hungry - you'd likely see the same slowdown in Opera

Don't get me started. Flash as a media element of web pages is a horrific, standards defiant piece of software.
