Any chance of altering the rounding on the trust system?

I have received 13 ratings - one was a 4 as it was a little slow, but every other one has been a 5, giving me a rating of 4.92.... but the image gives me a rating of 4, which I think is a little unfair....

    What do you think?

    Stu

I'm open to suggestion from the wider community. I'm sure those with a pure 5.0 average will not be overly happy but it does seem slightly unfair if you had 100 ratings and 1 of them was a 4 to then drop you down so I take your point on board.

My own personal opinion is that your suggestion will impact those people with an unblemished record and in the grand scheme of things 4/5 is still really good. Anyone can click through to your profile to get the detail.

In the future I may introduce an extra level of granularity to the scoring but it makes the image generation more painful so that's not going to happen until version 3 of the site.

I'll discuss with the rest of the management team and possibly set up a poll to work out the general consensus. Leave it with me.

Cheers Ian - if only you were on Microsoft servers, I could knock up a .NET image generator for you in no time!

We have image generators using the GD library, it's a formatting problem to keep the image small and make it work with a 3 digit number e.g. 4.92 and yet still get the point across. Plus, making the orange X's scale accordingly was a major CSS pain for the trust profile, making it work in an image would be even harder.

So when I say image generation, I don't mean the PHP required to create the image, I've written classes to do that already, it's more of a graphical problem.

gd isnt that hard. i made a dynamic sig in it. Only measure I used to counteract the load is to set cookies, so it would check th data every x mins instead of every refresh.

I dont mind it being to 1 decimal place - and for the image, just overlay a 5 star, but clip it to the width based on a percentage

doesn't work like that with a gradient background, i tried in the past and the anti-aliasing and transparency were all over the place. GD may have improved since then but for the moment we're sticking to one digit
