    Being Warm Blooded

Just curious to find any more information on this sort of thing. I am made out of the same stuff everyone else is but find my body reacting as if the temperature was maybe 5-6 degrees warmer then it actually is. During the winter, a temperature i am comfortable with is what most people find quite cold & I get dogs abuse off friends/family etc when i turn the heating down because I am sitting there sweating profusely in what they call a 'comfortable temperature'.

Previous partners etc have described as if I was sunburnt, in the sense that when someone is badly sunburnt they radiate a lot of heat, which they say is what I do. This is great during the winter as it means heating bills etc are substantially lower (and great for getting the girls cuddling up next to me )...but during a hot summer I suffer desperately at night/with vigorous activity. I usually end up having 2-3 cold showers a day just to bring myself back down to a comfortable temperature.

This is around 75-80% of the time, the rest i am on par with the people around me.

I also tan very very quickly, maybe 30-40% then people around me. But am sensitive to a kot of skin care products/anything with alcohol in (deodorant etc).

Totally random thread but I am curious to see if anyone else has any similar experiences?

    Re: Being Warm Blooded

I used to be like that for many years. Living and commuting in London in the summer didn't help either - Meltsville!

Used to wear shorts out clubbing in the winter....always wore t-shirts unless it was literally frozen outside.

Then I got older and lost a bit of weight......now I know what the cold feels like

I'm the same, not so fond of winter snaps as I was when I was a teenager, but I still loathe sickly humid summers, you sweat like a pig and you still don't cool off any.

    Re: Being Warm Blooded

Yup. I get hot. Really hot. Then I moved to Indonesia for a year and found out what hot was really about. Now I'm in my 30s and I've finally developed the level of control to be able to keep my temperature in check - what clothing not to year & when to take it easy. I find that drinking a bottle of ice cold water is the fastest way to get cool.

Same. Wife notices I frequently 'burn' at night. I think we have a slightly higher portion of brown fat, or our white fat has a higher mitochondial count than normal.

    Re: Being Warm Blooded

Another 'sufferer' here too - I often describe life as being a series of stuffy rooms.

It used to make me popular with my girlfriends during the winter as they likened me to a giant hot water bottle. I love the winter and hate the summer and I seem to be like it when I'm carrying extra weight or quite lean. I do find I feel the cold more as I get older, I never used to and would happily wander around in a t-shirt or short sleeved shirt during the winter.

My father's like it too but he always blamed it on coming from Yorkshire and then moving south.

Yep, it seems to be a man thing. But, just out of interest, have you had your blood pressure checked recently?

    Re: Being Warm Blooded

My wife runs a couple of C higher than everyone else - freaks out doctors when they take her temperature

I don't feel the cold and get too hot in the summer, but that's more to do with my ample layer of insulation than anything else, I think. My third year housemates dubbed me the house polar bear, as I'd be walking round the house in a t-shirt when they were all in woolley jumpers. I am also *very* sensitive to the sun, but in an odd way - I typically burn in April and September, when the sun really shouldn't be high enough or hot enough to burn people, but not so much in the height of summer (although this year that could have been down to the lack of proper summer...). Don't have any problems with cosmetics / soaps etc. though - just sunburn...

I run a hot engine and my niece does too, it must be some family trait.
In the winter when all my mates were wearing thick jackets and gloves
I used to wear a scarf to keep my neck warm.

I'm the same, although strangely my wife is the radiator in bed. I can only cuddle up for a few mins before I need to stick a leg out to cool off...
