I point was simple, most people don't have the equipment to record phone calls, and are not in the habit of recording them. However companies do and will use them if that offers them an advantage. A Bank changed my sort code incorrectly and I almost lost 1k, they checked and said I said that code (it was a mash up of two different bank accounts sort codes). When I asked to hear the recording, the managed to "lose" it, blaiming the fact of they had changed there systems.

If a bank states 'your call is recorded' then this (In the US) provides consent for the call to be recorded. Without this, it would depend on state law. Most only require the consent of one party. May or may not be relevant.

Like parking fines, if ignored and you do nothing the debt will just get bigger and bigger !

You need to contact PayPal, and provide as much proof as you can that you've done so, ignoring it just shows you aren't being reasonable and have something to hide, protest as much as you can and create a stink if you have to, at least if you do get taken to court for it you can say I did this this and this, instead of doing nothing.

Contacting paypal is easier said than done tbh, all the times i tried i just got a automated email back. And im NOT phoning a 0845 number to speak to them. They are not getting a penny off me.

Is this any different to regular debts from credit cards and such? as i know people that have ignored them and just said they can pay £1 a month as thats all they can afford and things like that, because not a priority debt.

After researching the net it seems there are loads of people with this place of there back after paypal fees and nothing much seems to happen

Well use the tracking number and ask parcel force the weight of the item when it was sent, to whom it was sent to with address and where it was sent back too. Ask them to post you that and give it to paypal and explain to the the situation.

One they have to prove it was you, two they have to prove that the person sent it too you via parcel force, thats just the start. It only lasts 6 years on your history by 23 it'll be all over, and i guess your not working you have nothing to worry about.
