    Driving License Query

I am having a major panic attack right now...

I am moving out tomorrow and have hired a van which I am picking up in the morning. However, I have not been driving for over a year so I just realised that I didn't update my address on my driving license when I moved into my current flat a year ago.

Does anyone know if I will have any issues collecting the van tomorrow morning with a license that has my old address on it? Do rental companies check that kind of thing or will they accept the fact that I have already paid for it using a debit card registered to my current address?

They won't check, however you should get it updated as failing to update your details is a criminal offence (albeit rarely prosecuted).

    Re: Driving License Query

AFAIK the driving licence check is for insurance purposes, that you are licenced to drive that class of vehicle, no undeclared motoring convictions etc.

But as butcher says, you are required to notify changes of address.

    Re: Driving License Query

i found out i was banned thanks to forgetting to update the addy, i had drove throughout the ban, insured and the lot!

had to pop into magistrates on spec, judge heard my case on the day and overturned my ban, gave me a telling off and charged me £70 court costs after proving i was innocent, turns out the car had been cloned, that i did know at the time! my red car was flashed as a blue car, end of story lol!

at least he didn't want evidence of it, was a nice chap who took me at face value.

I totally forgot as well. Just update it asap and they're unlikely to say anything.
