Good home phone?

Our home phone is dieing, randomly dies when getting called even on full battery forcing a user reboot and thus missing a phone call... very annoying, anyone care to recommend a solid wireless landline?

Dont want to spend to much and only need one handset .

See if you can pickup a panasonic at a good price. Tesco have them on offer every once in a while. The ones I have use standard rechargeable AAs which can be replaced easilly, and the phone number directory is available on any phone connected to the base station. The answerphone also works well.

+1 on the Pana, we got a set consisting of two base stations and a pair of KX-TGA810E handsets some time ago and it's one of those things that "just works", never caused ANY problems. It uses rechargable batteries, but the base stations seem to do a good job of keeping 'em topped up.

Sound quality is excellent, answer machine works well, and the colour display is nice to use.

Exactly that, we've had the same set of 3 panasonic cordless phones for donkeys, built like a tank dropped them several times and they still work.

Batteries seemed to have last and lasted, does help to get a set which takes NIMH batteries. Oh and a little tip which we found has helped, but only charge then they start nagging you !

had a panasonic before and it was solid, cant remember why we binned it but i think the answer machine died, it was when cordless phones were new so was expected (was years after anyways...) Will keep an eye out!.

Forgot to say that answermachine is a must, dont want a low end brand as my sister just got a binatone one and it wasnt that great compared to i think the samsung we have now (the one thats dieing...).

How about a wired phone ours is 8years old and still works without issue.

edit: correction, is 11years old.

Just don't get a BT set. We got what looked like a decent set less than a year ago, and they are terrible. They often loose connection with the base station after you hang up.

I really like the idea of the Archos 35 Smart Home Phone. No idea if it will be any good, was supposed to be out in October, but no sign yet.
