Shower saint...little advice on this one?

So basically i had this postcard come through my mothers door, a quick low down on it, it was addressed to a Mr v dasilver...

Now my surname when i was 10 was "da silva" for that one year, but never that one, either way onto this postcard (I'm 23 now so long time ago and lived in a different town back then!)

    This card says as follows...

"we've received a request for a FREE ShowerSaint, thank you.

If for any reason you do not require it please contact us within 5 days of receipt of this postcard on 0800 644 3400 or

    Email: nothanks:showersaint,com

You will need to give us your address so that we can accurately identify and remove your details.

Why have i received a postcard?
we work with a small number of carefully selected website partners who promote the showersaint offer on our behalf, this postcard is sent as a final check before we send out the product to ensure that only people who genuinely want a free showersaint will receive one."

There is more but it basically says if you didn't fill it in online its no their fault and they are sorry for any concern or suspicion the postcard may have caused

Now I'm very careful with stuff like this now since my steam account was hacked but still i cannot find anything about them other then who they are online....has anyone else had a postcard from them?

I got one today as well for a lady who lived in our house before us .. 7 yrs. ago!

I am wondering if I should email them to say this or not. What if emailing them to say Please dont send one leads me to being entered in their junk mail list ?

I've had one too - not happy with this method of promoting. It infers that they will send this thing to you and then you have to pay for it. I'll be notifying Trading standards rather than replying or phoning

Googling suggests that this company needs to meet certain Govt. green targets and they are dispatching their stuff in the hope that someone will KEEP them. It's Free btw. Someone already rcvd their package and didnt have to pay as per another forum.

Looks like it's a marketing company working to clean up their data, safest thing to do is ignore the postcard and when the goods arrive drop 'em back in the postbox with "return to sender, not known at this address". Should get you removed from whatever list you're on.

IIRC this thing is a small bung you stick in the water line to the shower to reduce flow. Big deal !

We had one arrive a year or so ago for the prev occupant who had been gone 2 years at that point.
    Cheers, David

AFAIK, that's what the Unsolicited Goods Act was designed to prevent (I think it may have now been superseded legally but the upshot remains the same). As my vague, layman's understanding goes, if you're sent something you never requested, and it doesn't appear to be an error of some kind (i.e. if you're sent a fridge with someone else's name on the delivery note) then you don't have to pay to keep it, it's already yours.

I also did not want this device or to give the company my email address. The device arrived yesterday, i simply wrote on the front 'Return to sender - unsolicited mail' it will now make its way back and they will be charged the postage for it.

Re: Shower saint...little advice on this one?

Its not a scam, we've been getting calls about this at work recently. We were first tod to say it was a scam, them we had some further contact to say it wasn't and that 1.2 million homes were being sent the device for free (which was omitted from the original postcard)

It's all to do with energy efficiency cobblers. If you don't want the device there is a return address to send it back to them free of charge

Re: Shower saint...little advice on this one?

One got sent to my mom's house addressed to myself and I haven't lived there in years, first it was the post card, which got returned to sender then they sent the shower saint. Which I've gone right ahead and fitted to find all it does is slow down the power of the shower which to be honest is a bit crap but hey it does say its FREE and as I've already opted out once they start sending me marketing crap I can do whatever, it's not my address their sending it too and would love to know how they got my name at that address and who put me forwards to receive it. Cheers for the free and rather naff shower fitting... Send what you like, I don't live there!

I wished I could get more water out of the shower, So I don't want one.

I like the way they give us all these bits of junk to use less Water, Gas, Electric. Then they just increase the prices so you don't actually save money, They just provide you with less for the same amount of money.

I've been previously informed that this isn't the case - it just costs the royal mail.

Can't find a quote on the RM site though

I assumed the Royal Mail held it at the local sorting office and charged the sender? I find it hard to believe the Royal Mail fit the bill, we have used this method several times and it is a sure fire way to stop the junk and spam.
