Carefully
In all seriousness though, you just need the right tools i.e - Diamond dust hole cutters or tungsten carbide spade shaped drill bits, a steady hand and the right techniques..
You can do it with HSS (High Speed Steel) drill bits, contrary to popular belief on the internet but only for holes less than 5mm in diameter plus it takes an age and you will burn out at least one possibly two drill bits doing it.
If anyones interested I'll get out the digital camera next time I make one and knock up a rough guide
Personally I'm hoping santa drops off one of these

I don't knock around with the WI or have T.V specials made every time I enter a craft competition but I do like making things with my hands.. I learned a fair whack of simple origami this year because it's always intriguied me, I spent 20 odd hours embroidering a halloween costume because I could make something unique and I enjoy a challenge... You won't catch me judging busts made purely of Devonshire butter at a craft fair any time soon but if I need something and I can make it I'd rather do that than buy something cheap
