I almost put this in case modding but it didn't feel quite right

Thoughts? Interior design has never been one of my strong suits but I think it came out quite well

Looks good. Does the wire come out the base of the bottle at the back?

A couple of LEDs inside the bottle would be interesting.

Re: Gave myself a little project this weekend..

Cheers dude Yeah I drilled a 10mm hole in the back just above the base and ran the cable through a rubber gromit just to neaten it up a bit and ensure there was no way the cable could snag on anything.

I've been thinking that myself looking at it on my desk, most of the cheaper LED lamps in my local hardware store seem to run on batteries though. Definitely something I'm looking at diong in the future though, especially with it being the season for cheap LED decorations

You can run a simple LED without hassle on pretty much any voltage, they are rather awesome like that. All you have to do is control the current they can take, which thanks to ohms law is really rather easy.

Some of the 'high power luxon type' are a bit harder to control mind, but you wouldn't want those for ambient lighting anyway.

I see what you mean... certainly would have more stability in the base

My dad did something similar with a huge champagne bottle, think it might've been a Methuselah. Regrettably though, it wasn't full when he bought it

I've got a bag of RGB LEDs on my desk here at the moment - looks like a normal LED, but it has four legs - 1 common anode, and 3 cathodes - one for each of R,G, & B

I've also got an Arduino sat here...

Re: Gave myself a little project this weekend..

    Cheers fellas

Being a 1 litre bottle rather than a smaller 70cl it's actually pretty stable, pretty heavy too with all that glass. That Eristoff Black bottle looks PRIME Having to work with what I've got though at the moment, I've got a Jim Beam bottle courtesy of mmh to play around with and someone that wants me to make a custom one as a christmas present.

Imagine, a cottage industry where it might be advantageous to binge drink... heaven

Small update, I had a request from someone on Facebook to make a christmas present for them and I figured it'd be rude not to share

Came out well Knox. Might be worth treating yourself to a nice drink for xmas, just for the bottle, of course.
