Re: Do you know your neighbours?

Yes. It's why I own a large dog with equally large teeth. There's a couple of nice old ladies who keep to themselves with their own dogs of varying sizes, but the teeth seem to be universal. The rest are raping, thieving scum, convicted even, shame no-one ever thinks to keep them in prison more than a couple of months, would actually be a nice place to live then.

Re: Do you know your neighbours?

The neighbours to my left are ok.

The neighbours to my right are annoying ba5tards, they are from Pakistan and all they do is ask for favours eg: lifts to places even though they have 4 cars in the family.
Then they ask to borrow things, every time I tell them to "buy your own" they reply "why when we can use yours".

They never want to spend a penny, they expect us to share our stuff with them. I'm nearly at the point where I snap and tell them F**K OFF.

Does anyone else have this problem?

See when i lived next door to an family from india (we got on well so found this out) they use to bring us food they had cooked round and everything, yes the kids were a pain throwing stuff over our fence but a quick chat to the parents and problem solved with just a few screaming kids later XD

As for my new neighbors...all are great in our little cul-de-sac minus the old couple on our left, the most childish adults I've met, complain about things that haven't happened, spread rumors about us to the others, started on my sister whilst her son was in the back of her car, put a camera up that watched OUR front garden, constantly stares at us as we walk to our home as well as our guests, call us scum and in general cause any havoc they can as they said "we will get you kicked out if its the last thing we will do!"

They even tried to blame us for the husband having a heart attack! saying we caused the stress yet we dont talk to them....messed up and rather stupid.

So think yourself lucky my friend at least yours seem pleasant but just a little bit selfish lol

Re: Do you know your neighbours?

Lived in this house for about 15 years now, shortly after we moved in we started to get to know our neighbours and then got involved in neighbourhood watch. We know the people in houses immediately next to ours and one along on each side.

One house across the road we know well enough for us to be able to park cars on their drive when we have guests and vice versa. When our Burglar alarm went off they both came and stood outside my house and came in with me to investigate and make sure I was safe when I got home. We have a couple of households where they have not really been very receptive to our gestures of friendship and there are some student households, including two directly across the road from us.

Another house had a retired couple and when the wife died we offered support to the husband and cooked some meals for him, plus before his wife passed away and once he found out that I knew a bit about computers he used to call me over from time to time for simple IT support, which I was pleased to do for him. He even offered me money the first time but I said I'd prefer it if he gave it to a charity in my name.

We've also made some friends with people living further up and down the road as well, but the thing that surprises me most is that many of the people we know on our street have no interest in getting to know anyone else unless the other party makes the first move. We have often just got to know people by doing things like taking wrongly delivered mail to their houses and knocking to speak to them rather than just dropping it through their letter boxes.

    Good man.

This is what we need more of in the community. Someone willing to take the time out of their day to do something for someone else, entirely voluntarily.

In the process you've given your neighbour something potentially to enjoy and a diversion from the loss he's faced. So many of the older generation die within a couple of years (and in some cases, mere months) of the loss of a partner. It reaffirms my limited faith in human nature that there are people out there who will help

At uni we had students on our right and this moany old couple on our left, they would start building work at 6am.. [we had 4 parties in the whole year] but if we had a party than went on past 8pm they would come and complain, they even reported us to the council on 3 occasions.

Where I live now though my neighbours are pretty nice.

Some friends of mine once lived next door to place that kept peacocks. Apparently, they [the peacocks, that is] are extremely vocal creatures who don't mind what time of day or night it is, when sounding off.

I know all my neighbours and they're all good people with exception of one couple who run a business and are the equivalent of Satan's scrotal area, as far as I'm concerned.

And peacock poo is very corrosive and bad for car paintwork!

I have recently moved house but my neighbours seem OK. Lots of advice about bin days when I moved in, and one put the bin out for me as "being new to the area, I might have missed collection day". Another one took a delivery in for me before I had even met him!

My folks have some roosters & hens , I aint been back home in yrs but they had to apparently kill one, as it was so noisy.

damm I wish I was back out in the country.

Its ironic since I moved here in 08 ive been housebound almost 2 yrs now, spent 18 months or so on a scooter and at least good 5 months snowed in..
