    Battery charger + mobile charger in one

    Does such a device exist? I need a charger every few weeks in case that I need to charge the battery of my mouse, but there is a charger that is capable of using AA/AAA batteries to top up mobile devices.

    I've seen "emergency" chargers (external battery pack) that uses a single AA batteries top up a mobile device via micro-USB, but while they accept batteries (meaning you can technically carry a bunch of AA batteries swap them out when they go flat), they do not charge them. I've seen devices that function as an external battery pack that charges too, but with built in batteries. While I've seen those devices quite cheaply in the UK via Amazon UK, 7dayshop etc, in the Japan, I could buy quite a lot of Eneloops for a single one of those battery pack, so if an external battery pack that could also double as a charger once every few weeks exist, it would sort me out.

    Could you buy a cheap USB battery charger and an emergency AA->phone charger? They'd both be pretty small and lightweight, although it would mean carrying 2 devices around.

    Alternatively, if your mouse uses AA batteries you could invest in some USB AA Batteries which would be relatively easy to recharge...

    Re: Battery charger + mobile charger in one

    Yeah, I was hoping to avoid multiple devices and I kinda prefer an AA -> phone charger that can take up to 4 batteries. I know that it would go beyond what is considered an "emergency" use, but if there is one thing I've learned from my week-end trip, is that I can't take power sockets for granted if I am not staying in a hotel, and wasting time in a Starbucks just to charge stuff is not ideal. Granted, it's not a deal breaker since I could just manually swap them out one by one. But chargers aren't cheap over here (few things are), so for the price of both device, I was hoping for a slightly more optimal all-in-one solution.

    Perfect device would be able to fit 4xAA or AAA (my mouse uses AAA) and charge from the mains, as well as having a USB power out for external devices. I don't expect it to charge be usable as an external battery pack while plugged in the mains and charging batteries (though that'd be sweet).

    @MaddAussie: Like that, but taking in AA/AAA instead of a Li-Polymer battery

    At those price, I'd bite. Main charging is preferable as in my experience solar charging is too slow and gimmicky and I do not always take my laptop around on shop trips but Ican't complain at those prices. Guess I'll have to see if something similar exist in Japan (you'd think they have everything eh ).

    Re: Battery charger + mobile charger in one

    So do you want something that acts as a battery charger and an emergency phone charger, or just something that you can plug into the mains and simultaneously charge batteries and your phone?

    If the latter, a Duracell CEF23-UK will do the job, won't it? It charges 4xAA or AAA batteries, and has a USB port for charging other devices. It looks like it *might* even work as an emergency power pack...

    Re: Battery charger + mobile charger in one

    I am looking for the former. The nearest thing I've found in Japan is this: http://tinyurl.com/7fbnohr
    Almost £22. On top of that, it can't charge my AAA batteries, so I need to get a AAA -> AA adapter which will bring the price to about £25.

    I am not sure why all those chargers that work as an emergency phone chargers *only* work on mains though. I suppose that it's to keep the size down. However, if I think that the reason those chargers only take two batteries is because charging 4 batteries on USB would take far too long.

    But given that huge range of products they already have, it wouldn't hurt them that much to have one supporting 4 AA batteries + mains for those who want to charge multiple devices or a tablet. I can't be the only one who prefer being able to carry as many AAs as I'd like than hoping that the charger with built in high capacity of a single Li-Poly is going to be sufficient. Even if the later is more space efficient, it costs £35 each. I really seem to be moving from expensive countries to even more expensive countries ^^;
